Encantada Domaine Le Sablé 1976 is an Armagnac from an estate formerly located in the village of Lagrange, in the heart of Bas-Armagnac. This estate produced only three vintages from the baco grape variety, before its vines were uprooted: 1973, 1974 and 1976.
This Armagnac was aged for 40 years in oak barrels at the Domaine Le Sablé winery, before being bottled in Dame-Jeanne. Selected by the L'Encantada trading house, it was bottled brut de fût at the Vic-Fazensac winery.
L'Encantada is a young company set up in 2011 by a group of passionate friends who bring rare pearls to the fore. Most of these elixirs come from producers who have not been distilling for a long time. The aim is to highlight the know-how and history of this 700-year-old spirit.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose is fresh and very fruity, like a big basket filled with juicy pears, sweet apples, grapes and yellow fruit. A little line of spices connects these fruits, and tickles the nostrils with hints of gray pepper.
With aeration, the freshness of the oak tannins awakens, adding a pinch of spice. The oak becomes greener, drier, and the fruit evolves in its image. Granny apples and Williams pears become finer and more precise.
On the palate, the fruit salad gains a certain acidity, which combined with the tannins, makes the freshness explode. This very old spirit then retains a lovely dynamism, sustained by a handful of dry spices. On the mid-palate, wood grabs the taste buds, leaving a concentrated, jammy impression.
The finish is rather dry, mineral, woody and spicy.
