Longueteau Blanc 62°: Description and customer reviews

From one of the most beautiful distilleries in the West Indies, bordered by coconut palms, this white rum of pure cane juice comes exclusively from the estate's blue and red canes. Fermented naturally, with no additives, the vesou is distilled on a traditional Savalle column, then bottled on the estate.

Don't be fooled by its high alcohol content ( 62° ), this rum is a brute with a tender heart. Pride of the Longueteau distillery, very popular with local enthusiasts, it is similar to the rum which flows at the exit of the distillation column. Its slight reduction using spring water from the Soufrière volcano makes it a nectar to be enjoyed frosted, at room temperature for the more adventurous, and of course as a Ti'punch.

For several years now, competition judges have been recognizing its exceptional qualities and regularly awarding it prizes.

Laurent's tasting notes

Its color is translucent.

On the nose, sugarcane is clearly present. Vegetal and slightly earthy notes complement the fresh cane. Discreet floral touches are a little in the background. Alcohol makes itself felt.

On the palate, sugarcane dominates. The alcohol is pronounced and heats up the mouth; fortunately, a certain sweetness counterbalances this power. The vegetal side is present in the background.

Long, cane finish. Floral and earthy notes return.

Excellent product...but expensive compared to the retail price in the West Indies!

It's interesting to see some unique Grands Arômes from Martinique finally available. Compared to the 46% aged version, this one is much more powerful in aroma and palette – making it a more enjoyable drink overall. Worth a try for Grand Arome fans, but Savanna and Jamaican distillers are still way ahead.

The alcohol content might worry some, but it's not overwhelming. It's delicious in a 'ti punch. Enjoy in moderation, of course.

super rum for a lemon ginger rhum arrangé

If you like it, we recommend :

  • Another high-proof rhum agricole with a mellow, brioche-like cane.
  • We stay in the same house for fruitier, less vegetal aromas.
