Manutea White Rum 40°: Description and customer reviews

Manutea is a white rum made from pure Polynesian cane juice. The red cane of the O'Tahiti variety is grown on Tahaa, then transported by schooner to Moorea, where it is distilled. The rum is bottled after 3 months of maturation and slow reduction.

This is clearly a tasting white rum that can be drunk on its own or as a ti punch. Of course, it can also be the base of a successful cocktail.

Nico's tasting notes

In brief: sweet - cane - zest - pepper - complex - natural

The nose is very pleasant and soft, simply on cane and lime. The cane sugar is soft, opening up to mellow aromas of steamed artichoke, chestnut and even chestnut cream. Sweet pepper takes flight with a few ethereal notes, without any aggressiveness. The candied character of this rum is very pleasant.
Aeration gives way to a superb, even perfect cane, with a hint of lime zest. It's all there: full-bodied exotic fruit, fresh herbaceousness, a touch of olive, candied lemon with salt... With time, the bark and fiber of the cane take us to a peppier register, opening the way to other, more fragrant aromas of spices, flowers and lychee. It's a very cheerful, springtime nose, and a very gourmand one at that.

The attack on the palate is soft, with notes of fermenting cane juice and a slight bitterness of lime zest. Rather bold in the mid-palate, with a crescendo of power, the rum is reminiscent of a livelier Cachaça. Pepper notes again emerge quite clearly, always with a hint of alcohol.

The finish continues on these peppery notes, the crushed cane fiber still moist with its juice. Its sweet cane sugar flavors will linger for a long time.
