Like Manutea blanc, Manutea Vanilla Tahitensis rum is first distilled from the red O' Tahiti cane grown on the island of Tahaa.
It is then aged for 6 months in French oak barrels used to make Tahitian Vanilla extract from the Vanilla Tahitensis variety.
Vanilla Tahitensis is the orchid that produces an extremely fragrant, fruity, sweet and floral vanilla.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose opens with a very vegetal rhum agricole, with gourmet aromas of basil, rosemary and even thyme. The round cane manages to take the upper hand, all the more so as it is supported by a nice, fat, fragrant vanilla.
With rest and aeration, the vanilla completely coats the glass, with a striking sensation of naturalness. It marries perfectly with the mellow pure cane juice rum, creating a bubble of nougat and honey. The vegetal side is muted, but plays an important role in the balance.
The palate is soft and vanilla-like on the attack, with a surprising floral and fruity flight later on. Fleshy, almost woody vanilla gives way to thick grenadine syrup, then a velvety texture like a rose petal.
On the finish, after a final touch of acidity, the round cane takes over, resting on a heavy mattress of vanilla.
