Nico's tasting notes
The nose of this rum is very restrained. It begins with light, supple caramel, without excess. Molasses and toasted wood then descend to deeper notes. Then tobacco and vanilla add a little variety to the profile. The nose is that of a very sweet, light rum, rather smooth and velvety.
Aeration won't alter this profile, and the rum remains soft, like a tender caramel. The vanilla, too, is delicate. There's also a certain sweetness that leads us towards caramel candy. Resting gives the caramelized nuts and coconut time to spice things up a little.
The palate entry is surprising, gripping the taste buds like a piece of toasted wood. The rum is much less round than expected, for although the sensation is sweet, the caramel aromas are quite dry and dark. Then the rum softens again, with honey and vanilla, and hints of roasted nuts.
The finish is soft and sweet, with burnt and roasted notes that linger on the tongue.
