Mezan Dominican Republic 2012 is a molasses rum produced by one of the most modern distilleries in the Caribbean: Acoholes Finos Dominicanos. Founded in 2009 in San Pedro de Macoris by a Spanish group, this distillery is self-sufficient in energy thanks to the biomass provided by bagasse.
This rum is made from sugarcane molasses grown in the provinces of San Pedro de Macoris, La Romana, La Altagracia and El Seibo. The juice was fermented with proprietary yeasts, and distilled in 2012 in a 5-column pot still.
Aged for 10 years in American ex-bourbon oak barrels (3 years in a tropical climate and 7 years in Europe in a continental climate).
5500 numbered bottles were released, bottled without cold filtration, coloring or added sugar.
