On the intense island, shaped by fire and the ocean, sugar cane rises in tall, vegetal waves, rocked by the trade winds and nourished by rich volcanic soils. It is from this land of contrasts, where the harshness of the mountains rubs shoulders with the generosity of the plains, that this Monpéyi rum, a traditional white rum from Reunion Island, with an alcohol content of 40%, was born.
Stemming from Creole tradition, it is made from molasses, a direct legacy of the sugar industry that has shaped the island's history for centuries. The molasses, a concentrate of sugar and memory, is diluted and then inoculated with yeast, triggering a lively and aromatic fermentation. The resulting must, rich and fragrant, is then distilled in a column, a process that prioritizes the purity and consistency of the distillate.
Its bottling, after resting and reduction to 40°, restores the original spirit of sharing rum: clear, frank, ready to be used in the composition of punches, arranged rums or ti-punches which enliven the conviviality of Reunion Island.
