New Grove 2004 Ville Bague is a single estate rum from Mauritius, made from molasses drawn from estate-grown cane. It bears the name of the original estate of the Harel family, founders of the New Grove brand.
The labels in this Savoir Faire series feature a blue latanier leaf. The leaves of this tree endemic to Mauritius were used to make arrack, the ancestor of rum.
This rum was distilled in 2004, and aged for 16 years in French Limousin oak barrels. Some of these were new, and others had previously contained cognac on several occasions. 1989 bottles are available for this cuvée.
