The vanilla liqueur from the Chamarel distillery in Mauritius is a harmonious blend of rum made from pure cane juice and the flavors of the fruit of the famous orchid.
Slowly infused for eight months, the liqueur is garnished with a clove during packaging.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose of this liqueur is very sweet, with cane sugar. The vanilla doesn't immediately take center stage, but is overtaken by cinnamon and pepper. As if bananas had been flambéed in a frying pan, there's a pretty brown sugar caramel. The woody character that emerges seems to come from the vanilla bean.
After a little aeration, a hint of agricultural rum on the cane brings out a livelier vanilla that is now quite present. A little pepper keeps the nose volatile.
The sweetness of vanilla dominates the palate, then tangy, fresh spices like nutmeg, pepper and cinnamon combine with sugar to recall a Dr Pepper soda.
The caramelized finish leaves the lips sweet.

Very good rum, but the vanilla taste isn't present enough in my opinion, which is a shame.
