Produced by the Dominican Republic company Oliver y Oliver, Opthimus 25 ans finition Porto is column-distilled from sugar-rich molasses, then aged in bourbon casks for 25 years using the solera method. The rum is then decanted into barrels previously filled with Single Malt Whisky for a few more months of aging.

Nico's tasting notes

The first nose immediately offers a certain complexity, certainly due to the contribution of the whisky barrel. To dress up this round rum that revolves around nuts, caramel and vanilla, we find fine notes of leather, toasted wood and a touch of sulfur. Time continues to reveal a lovely concentration of full-bodied white nuts, soft wood and aromas of vanilla, coconut and tobacco.

On the palate, the rum immediately takes on a gourmet woodiness. The texture is round, and the oak seems soaked in cane syrup. Its fibers melt into shreds of caramel and vanilla. Everything is organized around wood, from coconut and licorice to cherry pit.

The finish is also woody and caramelized, always with a sweet sensation.
