The XO version of Patridom Dominican Republic rum is a blend of the finest casks from the Oliver & Oliver distillery.
This is the new name for Ron Esclavo XO. The rum is still the same.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose is divided between the register of roasting and that of confectionery. Indeed, the toasted wood immediately surfaces, but it is quickly joined by a sugar syrup flavored with tangy fruits, such as strawberry or raspberry, or even blackcurrant.
Aeration gives way to fresher fruit, still acidic but less candied. Lime and yellow lemon juices battle with blood orange, assaulting increasingly bare, dry wood.
On the palate, the roundness of the rum coats a whole bunch of flavors that could have jostled the taste buds in other conditions. First, a generously burnt wood, then spices that warm strongly, and finally very bitter citrus zests. The balance is therefore ensured thanks to this sweetness that coats and flatters the palate.
The finish is light but tasty, it leaves a spicy cane syrup in the memory.
"A gourmet rum, like a cane sugar syrup with spices and citrus peel..."
