Plantation Isle of Fiji is a molasses rum distilled in the Fiji Islands from locally grown sugarcane.
A true signature of the Plantation brand, this rum benefits from a double maturation process, first in a tropical climate and then in a continental one. It is initially aged for 3 years on site in ex-bourbon barrels , before being brought back to France to Maison Ferrand to spend 2 more years in ex-cognac barrels .
Jérémie's tasting notes
On the nose : The aromas of pineapple rise from the glass, there is a dominance of candied fruits, approaching cooked pear, with ripe exotic fruits.
On the palate : it's surprisingly smooth and fluid at first, almost ethereal, before gradually releasing aromas of buttery fruit, cooked sugarcane, and sugarcane-infused wood, which brings a touch of bitterness. All of this is enveloped in honey and vanilla.
The finale : Very round and pastry-like, it is quite short.
