This pure cane juice rum from ReimonenQ spent 1 year in oak barrels, giving it a golden color and a slight woodiness on the nose and palate.
It will be perfect to make a "ti'vieux".
Nico's tasting notes
On the nose, a blind tasting would not immediately lead us to an agricultural rum. The first moments are softly spicy and coated with vanilla, before moving on to a lovely basket of ripe fruit. The cane introduces the agricultural register, with bagasse, bark and pepper, without being too dry. The rum retains its uniqueness, with a suave aroma and a hint of strawberry, then settles into a raw, young woodiness.
With a little air, we return to vanilla before returning to more mature fruit. These are stone fruits in eau-de-vie, then very sweet pears and apples, neither acidic nor fresh but rather cooked. The wood has been waxed, freezing some exotic peppercorns. The Reimonenq identity is already taking shape, with glimpses of prunes and dried fruit.
The palate is soft and sweet, but also slightly acidic. Its profile is puzzling, neither really agricultural nor really molasses. The cane is round and mellow, flirting with artichoke or steamed chestnut. Spices and citrus add a little spice and bite.
The finish features a touch of peppery strawberry, followed by cherry candy.
"Reimonenq draws its personality from its first months of aging and continues to break the codes of rhum agricole..."
