ReimonenQ old rum 3 years 40° : Description and customer reviews

The pure cane juice is fermented then distilled to produce a white "coeur de chauffe" rum, which is then aged in oak barrels for at least 3 years. This is how ReimonenQ rhum vieux 3 ans acquires its color and aromas.

ReimonenQ 3 year old rum won a silver medal at the Concours Général Agricole de Paris.

Nico's tasting notes

On the nose, Reimonenq lovers can't go wrong: the indescribable typicality of the house is there. This strangely sweet intensity, made up of mellow wood and dried fruit, never misses its target and is as seductive as ever. The rum grabs the nostrils, floral and heady. Everything melts, the prunes and dried fruit alike. The air is thick, almost suffocating, as if in a dense tropical undergrowth. The nose is extremely rich for a three-year-old rum, allowing itself to be dressed up with complex notes of encaustic wax and leather.
The nose continues to evolve with time. There are hints of stewed fruit in the depths, and a light, refreshing menthol on the surface. Planty notes of cane mingle with licorice stick, and the woodiness parades, alternately raw, fresh and melted.

The attack on the palate is lively and tinged with the famous Reimonenq woodiness we saw on the nose. The cane flavors are sustained by the pepper, and the rum remains taut in the first moments. Then it melts and explodes aromatically, bursting with licorice and dried fruit. The exuberant identity of this rum imposes itself and does not share.

The finish is very long, with mellow tannins that stand out well so that they can be appreciated, always without sharing. A vegetal character persists, with resin imprinted on the taste buds.

"No matter how old they are, Reimonenq rums are as crazy, intense and unique as ever..."

An original, spicy, sweet and very thick agricultural rum. A little too sweet for my taste.

Colour: Very dark for a 3-year-old. Dark amber.

On the nose, this Reimonenq smells of sugar cane, spices, lemons, tea, caramel candy. Medium intensity.

On the palate, this reimonenq is not very intense and spicy. There are aromas of cinnamon, pepper, light oak, vanilla and caramel. A fairly full-bodied rum. The sugarcane is less noticeable than on the nose, but still present.

A fresh, spicy but short finish.

It's a nice agricultural rum. In ti'punch, it should be interesting.
