Rom De Luxe Limited Batch Series - Ghana is a pure cane juice rum distilled twice in traditional stills. It was aged entirely in Europe, in new American oak barrels.
This explains why it has already acquired a beautiful color despite only 7 months ageing. This single cask was bottled in 188 bottles.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose is relatively light at first, with very sweet, candied vegetal notes. It then gains momentum with sweet citrus, a little cooked cane juice, licorice and soft bagasse. The latter soon resonates with an equally tender, blanched woodiness.
With aeration, the rum remains candied, restrained, as if passed through beeswax. The wood tannins take the form of slightly resinous, slightly medicinal, green and juicy vegetation. This adds vivacity and freshness to the cane.
The palate is vegetal and very smooth, considering the degree. The resinous-accented cane coats the palate without rushing it. It settles quietly, releasing gently caramelized, spicy flavors with a candied character.
The finish is roundly woody, with vanilla, blond tobacco and coconut.
"The few months of ageing will have been enough to nicely candy our ripe cane...".
