Ron de Jeremy XXXO single barrel 26 years 2018 edition 43° : Description and customer reviews

There are 2 versions of Ron de Jeremy XXXO: a 21-year-old and a 26-year-old. When you consider the rate at which rum evaporates in the tropics (the angels' share), the difference is considerable!

It's a blend of rums aged up to 26 years (compared with 15 for the classic XO).

The origins of these rums are diverse: Trinidad (a 1991 vintage), Barbados ( Foursquare distillery accounts for a significant share), and Panama (for sweetness).

This is a limited edition released in 2018.

Nico's tasting notes

On the nose, the rum is round but rather concentrated, with vanilla coating a raw, toasty woodiness. The caramelized nougat is not too sweet, allowing the wood to stay afloat, soft and white, gently perfumed like blond tobacco. Toasty, roasted notes arrive in full stride, but are tempered by a certain sweetness, resulting in a gourmet toasted coconut with vanilla blossom.

The palate is tasty and balanced, round but not really sweet. The traditional aromas of American oak develop one by one: white wood, coconut, vanilla, tobacco, sweet spices. The oak is fairly toasted, for just the right amount of bite, without sacrificing deliciousness.

The finish offers the same flavors, with the rum gently fading away.

"An indulgent but balanced rum, on very sweet American oak..."
