Ron Espero Reserva Especial is a blend of traditional rums aged in ex-bourbon oak casks for between 7 and 12 years, using the solera technique: old rums are placed in the same cask with younger rums so that the former "educate" the latter.
The rum is bottled in Panama.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose opens with a rather light rum. It gently tickles the nostrils with floral and alcoholic notes. It approaches caramel, just blond, after passing through clear, brioche-like nougat. Time brings roasting, wood and vanilla. These notes from the oak barrel give us a complete profile.
On the palate, vanilla and caramel immediately take hold of the taste buds. The oak develops notes of toasted coconut, followed quickly by roasting. Caramel, nuts, coffee, molasses: the typical aromas of the Latino style are present. The rum is rather light, sweet but not syrupy.
The finish is very light, leaving a fine film of vanilla on the tongue.
"A rum typical of the Latin American tradition, light and delicious, without being too sweet..."
