Rum Nation 8 Ans Barbados is a selection from the independent Italian bottling house led by Fabio Rossi. Accustomed to helping us discover all the terroirs of rum, the company has once again set its sights on Barbados.
Aged for 8 years in a tropical climate, this rum is a gentle expression of the island's rums.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose opens with a fruity rum, with a patina of encaustic-waxed wood. It reveals yellow fruits such as peach and mirabelle plum, as well as a few ripe white grapes. There's also a small cherry nestled in a coconut marzipan.
Aeration reveals a gourmet side, like these cherry and cream candies. It's also an opportunity for the wood to come to the fore. Soft American oak, bursting with vanilla, toasted coconut and blond tobacco.
The palate is also very tender, buttery and vanilla-like. Sweet caramel coats the palate with cane sugar syrup flavors. In the mid-palate, the rum takes on brown flavors such as chocolate, tobacco and toasted wood. Nuts are lightly toasted and caramelized, and the mellowness still predominates.
The finish is rather light, with a round, vanilla-infused nougatine.
