Rum Nation Mauritius Triple Cask is a molasses rum from the island of Mauritius .
It benefits from aging in three types of casks: new oak casks, ex-bourbon casks, and ex-sherry casks. The total aging period is 6 years , including 4 years in Mauritius and 2 years in Denmark at Rum Nation.
Jérémie's tasting notes
On the nose:
Aromas of vanilla caramel and roasted wood with hints of mocha rise from the glass. Upon closer inspection, candied fruit and cinnamon emerge. A touch of herbaceous freshness then appears.
Over time, a sweet and honeyed flavor develops.
In the mouth:
The attack is gentle, almost too restrained. It releases a bitterness of sugarcane and coffee. This is followed by a well-concentrated cocoa, accompanied by sweet spices (grated cardamom, clove). Then, it moves towards a more pastry-like profile: the cocoa loses intensity and is joined by cooked brown sugar, a light woodiness, and fruity notes.
Over time, rum increasingly takes on the appearance of marmalade: the initial bitterness gives way to a sweeter, more pleasant side.
The final:
Quite long, still with notes of roasted wood, orange peel and cocoa.
