1998 is the oldest vintage selected for the Saint James Velier collection. Deposited in 2018 and then stored in stainless steel vats, this vintage benefited from 20 years' ageing in ex-bourbon oak barrels.
The 1998 harvest was marked by a drought rarely seen between 1953 and 2016. This resulted in an optimal yield, with impressive quantities of cane and, above all, perfect quality. After distillation, the rum quickly took on aromas of ripe, sweet fruit.
