SBS Origin Guyana PM 57°: Description and customer reviews

SBS Origin Guyana is a white rum made from molasses. It is bottled by 1423 SBS and is part of The 1423 S.B.S Origin Selection collection.

The aim of this series is to highlight white rums specifically selected for their aromatic power and atypical profiles.

This rum is distilled at Demerrara Distillers in the famous Port Mourant still. This double-twisted wooden pot still produces rums full of aroma.

Nico's tasting notes

The nose is highly concentrated, typical of a full-bodied, funky English tradition. Fermentation takes center stage, with a mushroom base on which aromas of very ripe fruit, resinous aromatics and heady flowers are cultivated.

After aeration, the profile remains very heavy and full, enriched by notes of peppery charcuterie. We then fall into the ferns, picking up almost musky aromas, as well as a few green olives in brine.

The palate is surprisingly acidic at first, then very heavy and wild. The molasses expresses itself first through concentrated, fat licorice, which is more candy than stick. Then we plunge into deeper notes of fresh leather, olive in brine, overripe exotic fruit, mushroom and exotic pepper.

The finish is powerful, very long, with a dry, vegetal note reminiscent of Burgundy marc.

"The unaged, uncompromising discovery of a style that has shaped a whole part of rum culture...".
