Balvenie Double Wood 12 Year Old is a 12-year-old single malt Scotch whisky.
The Balvenie distillery has been a family business for 5 generations. It grows its own barley, has its own malt house and cooperage.
After a minimum ageing period of 12 years in ex-bourbon casks, this cuvée benefits from a 9-month finish in Spanish ex-sherry Oloroso oak casks. The whisky is then transferred to "tuns". These large oak barrels are used to blend whiskies from individual casks. This stage lasts between 3 and 4 months, allowing time for the aromas to blend.
