Located in the Highlands, the Tomatin distillery is renowned for its blending and finishing prowess. Tomatin 14 Year Old Single Malt Whisky is a fine example.
Its 2-year finish in first-fill ex-Porto casks adds complexity to the whisky's aromatic palette.
Jérémie's tasting notes
On the nose : Earthy notes and oxidized red fruits accompany the toasted cereals. Over time, vanilla and a hint of caramel emerge.
On the palate : The initial impression is soft, round, and slightly acidic, with roasted wood notes that release a smooth, oily caramel. A touch of spice (pepper) is also present. The whole thing melts gradually, transforming into a sort of cocoa marmalade.
The finish : We find notes of smoky wood and dried fruit, with that peppery touch still present.
