Tres Hombres La Palma Cana Pura is a pure organic cane juice rum distilled at Aldea in the Canary Islands. It is the 49th rum bottled by FairTransport under the Tres Hombres brand.
The sailors loaded this rum onto the cargo ship Tres Hombres in ex-Palo Cortado and ex-Moscatel casks. It had previously spent 6 months in ex-bourbon casks.
The yacht then rotated through the West Indies, a total of 8590 nautical miles, before heading for Amsterdam, where the casks were bottled.
During this 5-month voyage, the rum benefited from a dynamic ageing process to the rhythm of the waves.
Nico's tasting notes
On the nose, the sweetness of marron glacé immediately takes us into a mellow, delicate, candied, slightly powdery world, with a vegetal melt in the raw cane sugar. This chestnut then spreads to the surface of a young woody note, then infiltrates its tender fiber without going so far as to seek out its tannins.
With aeration, we continue in the comfortable atmosphere of chestnut cream, where the cane is as delicately candied as ever. A few spices subtly enhance the whole, with hints of pepper, cinnamon and tonka.
On the palate, the rum is very smooth and fluid, giving free rein to the delicate, lightly cooked cane juice. The latter slowly takes hold, introducing its sweet flavors of raw sugar, vanilla and marron glacé. The new oak takes over, adding more vanilla, making it taste like a buttery, lightly caramelized cookie.
The finish is tasty and delicate, devoted to marron glacé and ripe cane juice.
"A very sweet, delicately cooked cane juice with nuances of marron glacé and soft wood..."
