Twelve Réunion Jamaïque is a blend of 3 barrels of rum produced without reduction by the Twelve distillery (in Aubrac).
One of these casks comes from Réunion Island ( Rivière du Mât distillery), and the other 2 from Jamaica ( Monymusk and Worthy Park distilleries).
The rums are around 7-8 years old.
Nico's tasting notes
On the nose, the Jamaican part of the blend clearly takes over. Very ripe exotic fruits washed with solvent are unmistakable. A certain organic side brings us closer to the work of these distilleries, which make rum like no other today. But we can also say that balance is the order of the day, thanks to a softer, caramelized veil of American oak.
Aeration brings out a delicious pastry note led by almond and kirsch. Hints of pine resin join candied cherries, without falling into a debauchery of sweetness. Indeed, the copper of the alembic is there to tighten the profile, and even evolves on slightly mineral notes of gunflint.
On the palate, power only has a moment to express itself, as greediness immediately cuts it off. After a slightly organic, fermentative attack, frangipane and cherry offer a debauchery of comforting, pastry-like flavors. Butterscotch adds another layer, blending wonderfully with the brioche side of the rum. Dried banana then rubs shoulders with tobacco and vanilla, making us melt for good.
The finish is long and pastry-like, with hints of resin and copper.
"An irresistibly delicious blend, where power is at the service of letting go...".
