Vanua Rum is a blend of molasses rums aged 3 to 5 years.
The volcanic archipelago's only distillery produces rums with highly aromatic profiles, thanks to the use of distillation columns and pot-still stills.
Nico's tasting notes
On the nose, we discover a fairly full profile, true to the style of the archipelago's rums. Initial notes of ripe exotic fruit are tinged with cherry pit, with a few coppery touches, and even a hint of salty olive. However, this is a fairly mild rum, and these aromas round out very quickly.
With a little air, the rum's two identities are reconciled, for a balance that still leans towards sweetness and vanilla. The result is a light, round rum with more complex, concentrated, vegetal and fruity nuances.
The palate attacks the most concentrated side of the rum. Exotic fruits are coated with a fragrant chlorophyll leaf and a hint of resin. This is followed by a pastry side, with a light almond paste quickly covered in vanilla.
The finish is very light, gently perfumed like a vanilla marshmallow.
