Warehouse #1 NYE/HM Anansi White 63°: Description and customer reviews

Warehouse #1 NYE/HM Anansi is a selection from Czech bottler and distributor Warehouse #1.

This white rum is produced by New Yarmouth Estate.
New Yarmouth distills rum in pot stills and columns for the Wray & Nephew brand, as well as for Appleton Estate blends, for example.

The mark for this rather "heavy" rum is quite rare among independent bottlers. It is NYE/HM, with esters ranging from 500 to 700 g/hlap.

The label is based on a mythical character from West African folklore. Anansi is a spider with the head of a man. While the tales that feature him originated in the Ashanti region of Ghana, he can also be heard in the Caribbean.

Nico's tasting notes

On the nose, the highly solvent-oriented signature usually associated with New Yarmouth appears in a reasonable, rather subdued light. This immediately gives way to very fruity notes, such as very ripe pineapple or salt-preserved lemons. The latter link up quite naturally with a briny side, akin to an olive that would be surprisingly gorged with sugar.

With aeration, we move into the heart of a fruit basket, with very ripe pineapple, sweet passion fruit that has forgotten to be acidic, a few slightly creamy strawberries and morello cherries.

On the palate, the strength of the rum helps the solvent to illuminate the palate from the very first moments. As the solvent evaporates, it releases warm, concentrated fruit vapors that radiate in all directions. The exotic fruit juices then thicken on the tongue, allowing you to revel in notes of pineapple, mango, lychee, mangosteen...

The finish is a little more bitter and coppery, where olive and iodized lemons come to the fore.

"A well-found balance for this kind of great aroma that is above all fruity..."
