Whistle Pig Estate Oak Rye is the brand's oldest whiskey. The Whistle Pig farm/distillery is renowned for producing some of the finest rye whiskey in the United States.
This expression has benefited from a long aging process of over 10 years. This whiskey actually spent 15 years in American oak barrels. Indeed, its maturation was completed with a finish in heavily toasted Vermont oak barrels. The wood used to make these barrels comes from trees on the Whistle Pig farm.
These oaks have more rings than American oak, with a relatively tight grain. These characteristics allow the whiskey to develop deep flavors as it ages.
