Wild Parrot Corman Collins Jamaica New Yarmouth 2009 61.4° : Description and customer reviews

This rum from Jamaica's New Yarmouth distillery was bottled in 2022 by Italy's Hidden Spirits under the Wild Parrot brand, after a selection by C'Rhum - Corman Collins.

This is a vintage distilled in 2009, and a brut de fût.

Nico's tasting notes

The nose is misted by a flight of solvent, the typical aroma of this emblematic distillery. Between the lines, we find green banana, a little chlorophyll, tea, before a few pastry-like almonds begin to appear.

With aeration, the almonds melt into a vegetable milk that carries with it the tannins of the wood, as well as a sort of pine sap. The solvent, though still very much present, blends into the background, with hints of crushed strawberries and a hint of milk.

The palate is rather sweet and oily, which may come as a surprise, but ultimately echoes the notes of plant milk and resin we saw on the nose. Exotic fruits take over, some tangy while others, like banana, are sweeter. In the mid-palate, we encounter a little more resistance, with a mineral, burnt-like character that seems to come more from the distillate than the wood.

The finish is rather mineral, with very concentrated fruitiness and some pits.

"A typical, concentrated solvent that opens with broadly fruity, vegetal notes..."
