Ballechin is an old Scotch whisky distillery, located in the center of the country. It was in operation between 1810 and 1927, but was forced to close when the water source feeding it was diverted. Its facilities were bought by Signatory Vintage in 2002, at the same time as Edradour. The bottler decided to take advantage of the situation to produce a very special, peaty style. With the help of Laphroaig's former manager, the distillery developed its technique. The Ballechin brand was finally revived in 2006. Read less
