The Chita – Single Grain Whiskey
Founded in 1972 on the Chita Peninsula in Aichi Prefecture, the Chita distillery is the third distillery of the Suntory group, after Yamazaki and Hakushu. Created to produce grain whiskies for the brand's famous blends, it specializes in distilling corn using column stills and a continuous distillation process.
Thanks to a unique multi-column system, the distillery can produce several styles of distillates – light, medium, or more powerful – which are then blended to create exceptionally fine grain whiskies. After distillation, the casks are transferred to the warehouses at Ômi and Hakushu for maturation, primarily in American white oak casks, but also in wine , bourbon , or sherry casks.
The Chita is the first single grain whisky bottled by Suntory. A blend of several distillates and different grain whiskies , it reveals an elegant and approachable style, marked by notes of honey, mint, fruit, and spice, with a delicate touch of oak.
