Urban Rum

Located in the heart of Bordeaux's revitalized Bacalan district, Bordeaux Distilling Co. is part of a city renowned worldwide for its wine heritage and its dynamism in the spirits industry. Founded in 2019 by Antoine Gravouil , a former financier living in London, the distillery is now managed by Arnaud Chevalier, a mixologist trained at prestigious London institutions such as Whistling Shop and Black Rock, as well as within the innovative Fluid Movement collective.

An urban and independent distillery, Bordeaux Distilling Co. prides itself on artisanal production in micro-batches: characterful gins, precise grain brandies and unique liqueurs, all crafted with technical rigor and a deep respect for local know-how.

Among its first iconic creations, Rhum Urbain 2020 embodies this quest for excellence. Crafted from carefully selected organic molasses from Laos, it was distilled in 2020 using a combination of a traditional pot still and a six-plate column still , guaranteeing finesse and aromatic complexity. After twelve months of resting in stainless steel tanks, it is aged for twenty-four months in 55-liter French oak barrels from Clos des Spiritueux, which previously held Black Wall Rye.

This aging process gives the rum an elegant and structured signature, where delicate woody notes and spicy accents mingle, appealing to enthusiasts in search of rare, authentic and deeply expressive spirits.

Since this first successful attempt, the Rhum Urbain range has continued to expand, with today a white and a high ester that appeal to lovers of bold profiles.
The four friends don't intend to stop there: they are exploring new molasses from diverse origins and imagining novel combinations of casks and toasting levels, in order to push the boundaries of creativity and aromatic expression ever further. Read less
