Scottish Leader blended Scotch whisky was born in Doune, Perthshire, Scotland. It was on the site of the Deanston distillery, on the banks of the River Teith, that its secret recipe was created by the Ross brothers in the late 19th century. The brand as we know it today was born in the 1940s. It was, however, made famous in 1976.

South African group Distell took over and relaunched Scottish Leader in 2014, entrusting its manufacture to Burn Stewart Distillers. This company is notably known for being responsible for Deanston, Bunnahabhain, Tobermory and Ledaig single malts.

It was veteran blender Ian Mac Millan who defined the current blend. Today, he has entrusted these secrets to Kirstie McCallum, the current master blender.

This blend is made up of some thirty malt and grain whiskies (32% malt). It aims to reflect the full range of Scotch whiskies, with unbeatable value for money. The majority of the whiskies in the blend come from Deanston and Tobermory. Scottish Leader has won numerous awards in international competitions, including the International Spirits Challenge in 1997 and 2001. Read less
