Varadero
Varadero is one of Santiago de Cuba's historic brands. This city in the south of the island is itself one of the first localities to see the birth of traditional light rum. Created in 1862 at the instigation of the crown, the Varadero distillery benefits from the experience and know-how of Don Facundo Bacardi.
In 1959, the People's Revolution led to the nationalization of the distillery. While Bacardi left for the Bahamas, the maestros roneros perpetuated the tradition of traditional rum, mastering fermentation, distillation and aging in small oak barrels (180 to 200 liters). Read less
