Waqar
The history of Pisco Waqar dates back to 1850 in Chile, with the union of Escolástica Álvarez and Rafael Camposano. They came from families that had been involved with pisco since the Spanish colonisation and founded the Pisquera Tulahuén. The Waqar brand was born in 2011, under the supervision of master distiller Jaime Camposano. Its name means "white heron" in the traditional Mapuche and Quechua languages.
This Chilean pisco is made from a distillation of white wines, obtained from Muscat of Alexandria and Muscat rosé grapes from the Limarí Valley. The grapes are harvested by hand in the Tulahuén valley, at the foot of the Andes. The wines are distilled twice in a traditional copper and wood still. The distillate is then rested for 6 months in vats before being bottled and rested again for 1 month. Waqar Pisco also has a Denomination of Origin (D.O.: Denominacion de Origen). Read less
