Domaine Acajou (Clément)

Habitation Clément is a magnificent estate that is a must-see if you go to Martinique.

The distillery ceased its activity in 1988 after its purchase by the Hayot brothers, and was transferred to Simon, a little further south of the island. However, many stages of the production of Clément rums remained at the residence: reduction, brewing, aging and bottling. The Clément Foundation is also an exhibition space for Caribbean artists.

Habitation Clément is located in the east of Martinique , near the commune of Le François.

Other aging barrels: the barrels containing rum that is being aged can be either lying down or upright. What the photo does not show, of course, is the very pleasant smell of alcohol that evaporates during the aging of the rum (the angels' share...)

  1. I have a bottle with the inscription "coloniale 1931" six years old distilled aged in oak barrels at the Domaine de l'Acajou which dates from ??? minimum 1945 and still in impeccable condition.
Can you tell if it has value?
    THANKS

    1. Yes, it probably has some value, at least a few hundred euros. It's difficult to assess the price, however, it's not a "liquid" market.
