AH Riise XO Reserve Thin Blue Line 40°: Description and customer reviews

AH Riise XO Reserve Thin Blue Line is an aged rum distilled in the U.S. Virgin Islands. It is bottled by AH Riise, a brand created by a Danish pharmacist at the end of the 19th century. Thin Blue Line is the name of a charity association. Part of the profits from this cuvée are donated to the charity. The association helps Danish police officers and their families when one of them is injured or even loses his life in the line of duty.

This is a blend of rums aged between 7 and 21 years in casks.

Nico's tasting notes

On the nose, A.H. Riise's typical sweetness of orange peel and vanilla is sprinkled with a generous pinch of sweet spices, bringing us even a hint of wood and herbs.

Aeration brings us back to a well-rounded, sweet profile, with a sort of dark note gleaming in the rum's hollow. A hint of saltiness comes to mind, inviting us to indulge in butterscotch and fleur de sel.

The palate is round and greedy, with sweet fruits such as strawberry, banana and, of course, orange. Christmas spices add a touch of powder, largely balanced by the roundness of the mid-palate. The slight woodiness is expressed here in the form of gourmet caramel.

The finish is very sweet, like gingerbread with orange peel and honey.

"Lots of sweetness, fruit and mild spices, with a very slight woody, caramelized edge..."
