Angostura N°1 Cask Collection French Oak 40°: Description and customer reviews

Angostura N°1 is a very old rum from the famous Trinidad & Tobago distillery, which spent 10 years in bourbon casks - which is classic for an old rum - and a further 6 years in old casks that had previously contained Cognac, which is already less usual.

Laurent's tasting notes

Its color is a deep gold.

On the nose, the aromas are light. We have a blend of several complementary scents, none of which really takes over: woody, orange, almond, vanilla and a discreet tobacco. The whole is quite greedy.

On the palate, the attack is supple and the sweetness gradually develops. At the same time, vanilla, orange and a slight woodiness dominate.

The finish is moderately long and, although it starts out sweet, becomes increasingly dry. Wood and vanilla win out in the end.

Excellent Cuban rum.... fabulous taste... a marvel.

  3. samyr

Top-notch! Goes well with a good cigar. A dry, complex rum with lots of aroma.

  4. Louison

Flattering aromas of caramelized gingerbread, orange, almonds and honey on the nose!
On the palate, slightly spicy, vanilla, smoky (spicy perhaps?) beeswax. No disappointment between the olfactory and the gustatory. Very long finish.
Ideal for a late evening in a club chair with a Winston Churchill to share with a friend, this is an initiatory rum. Perfect for an intimate atmosphere. An excellent reference!

  5. Dédé

Without doubt the best of the range! It's a bit expensive, but the price is justified given the quality of this rum.

If you like it, we recommend :

  • A Guatemalan rum that is also sweet, but with more caramel notes...
  • In Sherry finish...
  • Another ron, with less sweetness and more finesse...
