Angostura
The distillery's history began in 1824, when Dr. Siegert improved the formula for aromatic bitters, which he named Angostura in honor of the Venezuelan town where he was stationed as a surgeon. In 1875, the doctor's three sons settled on the island of Trinidad & Tobago, but it wasn't until 1949 that a distillery was founded in the town of Laventille.
From the 1970s onwards, the company expanded, integrating other companies and becoming one of Trinidad's biggest exporters. With numerous trophies and a fine example of integrating modernity with tradition, Angostura has become one of the most emblematic rum brands. Read less
