Appleton 17 years Old Legend 2005 49° : Description and customer reviews

Appleton Estate 17 ans Old Legend is a limited edition rum produced by Appleton Estate's Master Blender, Joy Spence.

A blend of four very rare distillates, this rum aims to recreate as closely as possible the legendary 1940s J. Wray & Nephew 17 Years. The latter caught the eye of bartender Victor Bergeron, who in 1944 used it to create a new cocktail called "Maita'i roa a'e", which in Tahitian means "the best in the world". This is the famous cocktail known as the Mai Tai.

This Old Legend has been created by revisiting the authentic recipe of the 1940s.

Due to the rarity of the distillates selected, 1,500 bottles were produced for the world from casks.
The 17-year aging process is carried out entirely in the tropical climate of Jamaica, in ex-bourbon American oak casks.
Bottling took place in 2022.
