Nico's tasting notes
The nose opens with a very tender, comforting profile of mellow cereals. Flowers and fruit follow the malt, with banana, pear and mango as pale as a sunrise. A light herbal and resinous note rounds out the whole, with a hint of smoke.
Aeration gives a little more room to the wood, which remains light, but outlines the contours of this whisky. It's slightly dusty, rather pale too, and a few ashes have settled on the surface.
The palate is dry but completely fluid, giving us a serious but pleasant start. The cereal casing is obviously toasted, but care has been taken to remove its most burnt aspects. The mid-palate is filled with a lovely orange marmalade, bitter and sweet to perfection.
The finish is lightly ashy, more like peppery; the soft, slightly smoky malt lingers for a long time.
"A very well-balanced, delicately composed whisky..."
