Bacardi Gran Reserva Diez is a blend of several rums, the youngest of which is at least 10 years old.
American white oak barrels were used for these cuvées.
It should be drunk neat, preferably in a tulip-shaped glass.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose immediately takes on concentrated American oak, with some bourbon aromas. The white wood is justly toasted, gripping the nose just enough to deliver a seductive intensity of vanilla and coconut.
Aeration reveals a slightly lighter rum, with some pale fruity notes. The wood is a little more clearly toasted, with floral notes.
On the palate, the rum is both savory and light, in the typical style of Cuban tradition. The American oak barrel delivers all it can of gourmet notes such as vanilla, coconut and sweet caramel. Yet the texture remains fluid and light, the rum lightly tingling the taste buds with ethereal, spicy surges.
The finish brings us closer to a more strongly toasted oak, before going deeper into its molten fiber.
"A rum that represents its tradition well, with a light but tasty character..."
