Benromach 2012 Virgin Oak Kiln Dried is the second single malt scotch whisky in the Contrasts collection. The aim of the Contrasts collection is to help whisky lovers understand the influence that the way oak is dried (before it is transformed into casks) can have on a whisky's taste profile.
Alongside the Air-dried Oak version to which you can compare it, here's the Kiln-dried Oak made with a whisky also distilled in 2012 and bottled in 2023. The latter was aged for 10 years in a batch of oak casks, air-dried for 24 months, then toasted for a short period in a kiln, the traditional oven found in Scottish distilleries.
