Cadenhead's Classic Rhum 50°: Description and customer reviews

Cadenhead's Classic Rhum is a blend of several aged rums from English Guiana (5-7 years for the most part, but sometimes up to 10 years of age, depending on needs and to achieve the desired result).

Nico's tasting notes

Cadenhead's Classic Rhum is smooth yet lively thanks to its rather high alcohol content (50°).

This rum has a surprising nose of cherry candy and marzipan. There's plenty of sweetness right from the start, and even a hint of confectionery. Sweet red fruits coexist with creamy white chocolate or milk chocolate. Once the surprise has worn off, the rum finds its balance with a clear woodiness. The lively, light character reminiscent of cherry sweets is still there, but it has gained in class thanks to the wood.

Aeration adds banana to the candy bouquet. The rum also becomes a little thicker, a little heavier, and the almond gains a little more fat. This suggests an almond or kernel liqueur.

The attack on the palate is frank and straightforward, but what's surprising is that you really get the impression of tasting a whisky. The blend of floral, malt and red fruit notes is truly striking. Add to this a hint of smokiness, and the illusion is perfect.

The finish emphasizes the whisky, and a few dried fruits add an exotic touch.

"Here's an original rum, with a tangy red fruit nose and a true Scottish single malt palate..."
