Carnival Barbados is a blend of rums from the West Indies distillery in Barbados.
Carnival Sun Juice is an invitation to travel. It is above all a range of spirits created by Anthony Martins and JoeyStarr. The former is known for having opened the winery and then the distribution company La Source, as well as the Old Brothers Independent Bottler brand. The latter is none other than the well-known French singer, actor and rum enthusiast!
For this first creation, we headed for WIRD (West Indies Rum Distillery) in Barbados. The blend is composed of rums aged between 3 and 5 years in ex-bourbon American oak barrels. All ageing takes place in the tropics.
The bottle is illustrated by Nilko White, who also created the artwork for Old Brothers' first collaboration with JoeyStarr.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose is first highlighted by a veil of smoke, grilled wood and even roasted like a coffee bean. This roasting produces aromas of nuts and sweet spices, with a hint of butterscotch.
Aeration brings a tangy side which refreshes the whole, and which leads us towards an orchard full of yellow fruits. The first and second noses then intertwine to find a nice balance.
The palate is very sweet and tangy on the attack, with crushed strawberries, a touch of milk, cherry. A light toasted woodiness appears in the mid-palate, with some spices which tighten the texture a little.
The finish is fine and light, gently dressed with vanilla.
