Chamarel Vanilla Cask finish comes directly from Mauritius. It is a rum from the Chamarel distillery.
This is a balanced composition of Chamarel cane rum and natural vanilla beans from a nearby plantation.
Maceration lasts 8 months, in vats containing 80 grams of sugar per liter.
It makes a good cocktail base, but can also be enjoyed on its own or in a coffee.
Nico's tasting notes
The first impression on the nose is of white rhum agricole, followed by a bold vanilla bean. The woodiness and sugar are also vanilla. Chouchous, pralines and brioche come to mind. It's resolutely gourmand but delicate.
There's always that comforting sensation on aeration. There's vanilla, of course, and we're definitely in a funfair mood, with chouchous and now an apple d'amour. Sweetness, yes, but without excess.
On the palate, it's mainly the white rum that permeates, with the vanilla more discreet. The palate is now more fresh, with cane and a slight woodiness. It's less delicate than on the nose, though a lovely milk chocolate does manage to find its way in.
The finish returns to vanilla, the texture subtle, not too thick.
"More subtle than a spiced rum, more gourmand than a wood-aged rum, this original rum hits the nail on the head..."
