Dalmore 18 yo was first aged for 14 years in American oak, then for 3 years in Matusalem sherry casks, and finally for 1 additional year in premium sherry casks.
Florian's tasting notes
The nose reveals lovely vinous notes, old wood, a cigar box where tobacco leaves have remained. Then, the fruit slowly appears, with prunes, raisins and red fruits. After a short time, spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla appear.
On the palate, the texture is soft, and the vinous notes of the nose are well present, oloroso and plum. Walnut dominates, along with chocolate and mocha. Aeration opens the door to freshness, which accompanies this depth with a burst of lemon, a sign that the American oak has not been dominated by the Sherry cask.
The finish lingers on a soft vanilla and spicy sensation.
"A well-balanced whisky, very accessible and smooth, its multiple maturation offers freshness and depth where sherry notes dominate the tasting. A pleasure whisky to enjoy at the end of a meal."
