Demon's Share 15 ans 43° : Description and customer reviews

Demon's Share 15 ans is a molasses rum distilled in columns in Panama.

This rum is distilled by Bodega de America, the company behind Malecon rums. It is aged for 15 years in ex-bourbon American oak barrels.

The brand's name "The demon's share" is a nod to the angels' share, the amount of rum that evaporates during aging.
It could also be an allusion to the devil's share, an expression that refers to the amount of rum absorbed by the barrel during aging.

Nico's tasting notes

The nose evokes orange and sweet spice confectionery, with sweet, oily, candied-like peel, underlined by a very mellow, soft vanilla syrup. A hint of strongly toasted oak, meanwhile, attempts to bring a slightly drier edge and a form of balance.

With aeration, the oak transforms into a thick caramel, a coulis embellished with sweet spices like cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg, in a resolutely regressive, pastry-like spirit.

On the palate, we find the roundness we've come to expect, with candied citrus peel immersed in a syrup of vanilla and other sweet spices. The texture is very soft, giving a candy-like sensation that tempers the bitterness of the orange peel.

The finish is just as round and sweet, with citrus notes stretching into more exotic fruit nuances.

"A 'confectionery' rum, very round and dominated by citrus peel..."
