Only 485 bottles were made from barrel 503 by cellar master Nora Carrion of Depaz.
Aged in 2005, this vintage was bottled brut de fût.
Given the rarity of this rum, only one copy is authorized per order and per customer.
Nico's tasting notes
The decisive nose of this brut de fût illuminates us with its intense, concentrated woodiness. The oak didn't come alone; the cane juice shines through and carries scents of dried fruit. This vesou has managed to retain its soul as a fresh, lively eau-de-vie, even if spices and precious wood aromas float all around. A hint of minty freshness emerges, creating a complete picture and a rum that becomes increasingly pleasant and well-balanced.
Aeration refocuses the rum on wood and nuts. With a little solvent, roasted, caramelized pecans join a fat, sticky peanut paste for a dense, gourmet impression. The roasted register coexists with that of roundness, as in a kind of maple syrup with cane juice.
The entry into the mouth is frank and quite astringent, without being brutal. It's a dry rum, yes, but it's also a true Martinique rum, well influenced by oak. The spices are scorched, the nuts well roasted, and the whole is reduced to a paste with a grain that still stands out. The vegetal character of the cane hastens to join that of cedar and pine, in an intense resin that itself reaches out to the fermenting vesou.
The finish is long, with notes of precious woods and dried fruit.
