Dictador 1976 Generations decanter Lalique 43° : Description and customer reviews

Dictador 1976 Generations decanter from Lalique is the first partnership between a rum brand and the great French crystal manufacturer. The "Generations" decanter is a tribute to the Parra family, now in its 3rd generation. For the occasion, father and son Dario and Ernan have, for the first time, created a four-handed blend.

For this purpose, they have selected very old American oak casks and old Port casks. All are sugarcane honey rums from the 1976 vintage.

Marc Larminaux, Artistic and Creative Director at Lalique, designed this crystal decanter. Made and numbered entirely by hand (engraved number), only 300 were produced. Its motifs evoke the crystalline waters of the Caribbean, and its clear, frosted crystal illuminates it like a true work of art.

Each bottle is housed in a stainless steel presentation box with tempered glass, a fingerprint recognition system, and a light that highlights the amber color of the rum.

A USB key is enclosed, telling the story of this unusual partnership between Lalique and Dictador.
Here is also a short video presentation.

Pauline's tasting notes

The intense, complex nose opens with notes of flambéed bananas and leather. Dried vanilla and sweet spices appear.
With aeration, the wood becomes more present. A hint of burnt wood sprinkled with cocoa.

The palate is unctuous. A supple attack greets us with the sweetness of vanilla, stretching out to fruitier flavors. Notes of grapes and sweet spices are revealed on a mellow woodiness.

Toasty cigar-box flavors underscored by woodiness give way to spices for a long, persistent finish.

Dictador's tasting notes

The nose offers notes of freshly polished wood, with accents of leather, ripe plums and a touch of clove. Cocoa powder reveals layers of black cherry, nutmeg, cinnamon, with a hint of deep mahogany. It continues with grilled pineapple and rose petals.

The palate opens with a deep flavor of dark chocolate, a touch of burnt orange peel and clove. Nutmeg follows, with some dry oak, rich leather and Madagascar vanilla beans. High-quality coffee and a hint of star anise add a further level of complexity. There's a wonderful balance between the sweetness of ripe fruit and the earthiness of spice.

The finish is smoky, toasty, on cigar tobacco. These notes are underscored by woody spices and a light sweetness of raisins, rich baked plums, medjoul dates and fig leaves. The long finish is completed by rich dark chocolate and drier notes of earthy, woody spices.
